Xueying Wang is a student of FIBE2 CDT Cohort1. As part of the FIBE2 CDT’s program, she has joined in and completed an enterprise program launched by the Cambridge Judge Business School called “EnterpriseTECH” with peers from across the University. EnterpriseTECH is a programme with lectures, workshops, supervisions and a team project focussed on the potential commercialisation of an early-stage or emerging technology. It teaches subject relevant entrepreneurial skills to students and researchers from all backgrounds across the University of Cambridge. It is a part-time programme and runs from December 2019 to March 2020.

During the programme, Xueying and her teammates explored the commercial potential of a very early-stage inventions for a biotechnology company “Pentail Enzymes”, which is created to harness the power of enzymes to improve human health, and aims to prevent pharmacokinetic-mediated adverse drug reactions and therefore to improve drug development programs.

With guidance from a business supervisor, Xueying’s team produced a commercial feasibility report, a video infomercial and learned how to pitch. By the end of the programme, they have understood the fundamentals of entrepreneurship, innovation development and routes for technology commercialisation and could apply the theories of entrepreneurship to practice and appraise ideas in terms of the context, value propositions, and challenges. Finally, her team has achieved the highest mark among the other students on the MRes course due to their outstanding performance during the programme. Congratulations team!
