EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Future Infrastructure and Built Environment: Resilience in a Changing World (FIBE2)

 

The following are the FIBE2 CDT industry partners’ lunchtime seminar series. 

Lunchtime Seminar on 28th April.

Speaker:  Patricia Guerra-Escobar, Principal Engineer at Geosynthetics.

Bio: Patricia is a native of Colombia, where she began her career in Geotechnics, Soil mechanics and Geosynthetics over 20 years ago. As well as Colombia, Patricia worked as a civil engineer in France and Central America before coming to the UK in 2010. She is currently the principal engineer and manager of the engineering department of Geosynthetics Ltd. She is also the current Chair of the UK Chapter of the International Geosynthetic Society (IGS) and a member of the technical committee on reinforced fill structures for the International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE).

Lunchtime Seminar on 26th May

Speaker: Dr Alessandro Palmeri from Loughborough University, Reader in Structural Engineering and Dynamics and Group Lead, Structures & Materials.

Bio: Dr Alessandro Palmeri is a Reader in Structural Engineering & Dynamics within the School of Architecture, Building and Civil Engineering at Loughborough University, and Leader of the Structures & Materials Group. He has published more than 150 technical papers and has delivered invited lectures in several international conferences. Dr Palmeri research is mainly focused on various applications of Structural Dynamics, including Bridge, Earthquake and Wind engineering, and Probabilistic Methods, including the Reliability- and Performance-Based Design.
