EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Future Infrastructure and Built Environment: Resilience in a Changing World (FIBE2)

Talk Title: Steel re-use and Dowel Laminated Timber

Ally Low-Macrae and Arthur Coates are both chartered structural engineers currently working as associates at London Structures Lab, a recently founded structural engineering consultancy with a focus on designing buildings with reduced embodied carbon, often via refurbishment of existing structures. Before joining London Structures Lab, Ally worked as a senior engineer at AKTII, and Arthur worked as a structural engineer at Price & Myers, where he was head of the Climate Action Group. They are both members of the iStructE Structural Futures committee.

Talk Abstract:

Ally and Arthur will be discussing how the structural design firm they work for, London Structures Lab, is incorporating steel reuse and dowel laminated timber (DLT) to reduce the embodied carbon of their structural engineering projects.
